VIRTUAL CINEMA DEADLINE – Submit your VR/MR projects by Thursday, November 17.

For those of you creating the future ways we experience the world through Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality technologies, there’s only two weeks left to submit your projects to SXSW 2017. Submissions for SXSW Virtual Cinema close on Thursday, November 17. We’re looking for VR/MR films, games, and interactive projects with a total runtime or recommended viewing time of 20 minutes or less.

 
The SXSW Virtual Cinema returns for its second year as our exhibition space for this new and exciting creative world located at the JW Marriott during SXSW 2017. Accepted projects will be showcased alongside the VR/AR Track of conference programming, taking place Tuesday, March 14 – Thursday, March 16.

As part of the SXSW Film Design Awards, the Excellence in Title Design Competition aims to discover the best in contemporary title sequence design. Browse the SXSW 2017 Schedule, which is now live with dates for many of these sessions and speakers; and if you haven’t already, make sure to register by Friday, November 18 to save on a badge.

 
With November comes a fresh list of alumni releases that includes a directorial debut from veteran DP Alex Lehmann (Asperger’s Are Us), and feature debut from Logan Kibens (Operator), as well as Zach Clark’s dark comedy Little Sister.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Fisher Stevens’ climate change documentary Before the Flood held its domestic premiere at South by South Lawn (SXSL) last month. Stream it now for free via National Geographic.
